Finding Casa Ionia
Casa Ionia, sixty kilometers from the city of Lecce (where Italy is already a faraway place) and directly in front of the sea (250 meters). Between Santa Maria di Leuca (13 km) and Castro, spots of color reaching towards the Mediterranean and looking out onto the Adriatic Sea (there are days in which we look out and see Greece!), the origin of this little group of pajare was as shelter for peasant farmers who worked in the fields. Then, in the 1980s, my father, after working for many years in Florence, decided to buy a house for his future return to the land of his youth. This solitary gem fascinated him with the silence of the country and the expansive nature of the sea. Salento, a place to return to.
